When you play a round of golf, your gross score is recorded (the number of strokes you have taken on every hole) and then if necessary you reduce your score on any hole where you took more than two shots above par, to a double bogey or two shots above par (e.g. you score 7 on a par 4, reduce it to 6) - this new score is your gross adjusted score.
